Maintenance and Care
With our tape hair extensions, you will be able to heat style, colour, swim and wash as normal, with the direction of some easy hair care instructions.
Use salon quality products
To keep your hair looking healthy and feeling soft, use only high quality hair products that do not contain protein, keratin or sulphates. Sometimes, premium hair products are hard to find, and the products that you can typically find at your local supermarkets often contain harmful ingredients. To make the search easier, check out our variety of hair care products that are perfect for extensions.
Apply a nourishing hair mask
Using a deep treatment in your hair once a week can keep it feeling silky and healthy, especially if you like to regularly heat style. Make sure it’s a high quality product, without any hair damaging ingredients.
Take care when styling your hair
When heat styling your hair, always remember to use a quality heat protectant product first. If you want to put your hair up, avoid creating a style that is too tight and may pull on the extensions. While the tape attachments are secure, you will still want to avoid putting excessive pressure on your roots, just as you should with extension-less hair.
Protect your hair from chlorinated or salty water
While you can freely swim with tape in hair extensions, you should ideally avoid allowing them to soak up water from the pool or ocean. The trick is to damp you hair and tie it in a loose plait before you swim, and thoroughly rinse it with cold water when you’re done. Then, wash your hair with a salon quality shampoo and conditioner that same day. If you can, avoid exposing your hair to chlorine or salt water too frequently, as too much exposure can eventually shorten the lifespan of your extensions.
Attend your hair maintenance appointments
As part of the care process for tape hair extensions, you will need to visit the salon every six weeks on average, depending on how fast your natural hair grows. To prevent damage and maintain the original look of your fuller and longer hair, tape in hair extensions will need to be removed, washed, dried and re-tapped.
We use a fast and simple process at EH Hair, making your maintenance appointments feel like relaxing, much-needed self-care time.
