Why You Can’t Skip the Consultation Before Your Extensions Appointment

October 30, 2025

This is one of those things people often ask us: “Can I just come in and get my extensions done straight away?”

And we totally get it, when you’re excited about getting new hair, you just want to lock in your booking and go.

But here’s the truth: the consultation is one of the most important parts of the process. It’s not about slowing things down; it’s about making sure your results are perfect, safe, and tailored to you.

What Happens in a Consultation

It’s more than just a quick chat, it’s where we make all the key decisions for your dream hair.

During your consult, we:

  • Check your natural hair and scalp health (this helps us match the right method and weight).
  • Go through methods: tape, weft, keratin bonds, micros, or clip-ins, and decide what’s best for your hair type and lifestyle.
  • Colour match your hair in natural light so your extensions blend seamlessly.
  • Talk through length, weight, and placement, so the result feels comfortable and balanced.
  • Go over pricing, timing, and care, so there are no surprises on the day.

Why It’s So Important

There are a few big reasons we don’t skip this step:

  • It helps us avoid any issues on install day, like mismatched colour or unsuitable methods.
  • It protects your natural hair, not every method suits every texture or density.
  • You’ll know the exact price and process before committing.

So basically, it saves time, prevents stress, and ensures you walk out absolutely obsessed with your hair.

How It Works (Step-by-Step)

  1. Book your free in person consultation: usually takes 20–30 minutes. (A less thorough virtual consultations is available if you live remote)
  2. We assess, colour match, and plan your install.
  3. We prepare your hair (especially for custom installations).
  4. You’ll book in your install date once everything’s ready. If we have availability on the day, sometimes this can be executed on the same day.
  5. On the day, it’s smooth sailing, your stylist already knows exactly what your hair goals are and how to get the best possible result.

How to Prepare Before Your Consult

A few things that make the appointment even more helpful:

  • Think about what length and colour you’d love.
  • Let us know your hair history: colouring, breakage, treatments.
  • Be honest about your lifestyle: do you swim, gym, wear your hair up daily, etc.
  • This helps us recommend a method that fits your life, not just your look.

Quick FAQs

Do I have to pay for the consultation?

We offer free consultations from Monday to Friday (the rate for Saturdays is $49). You will pay a redeemable or refundable holding deposit for your consultation appointment. Rest assured, if you decide extensions aren’t for you after the consultation, your deposit will be refunded to you.

What if my hair isn’t long or strong enough yet?

That’s totally fine. We’ll let you know what’s realistic, and sometimes recommend a shorter-term plan before your install.

How far in advance should I book?

If you want a specific stylist or method like micros or keratin bond tips, try to book your consultation 2–3 weeks before you’d like your install.

The consult isn’t just a formality, it’s where your transformation actually begins. It’s how we make sure your extensions feel natural, blend perfectly, and protect your own hair in the process.
