The Signature Weft: EH’s Butterfly Weft Explained, Benefits and What Clients Say

September 17, 2026

The Signature Weft is EH’s butterfly weft. It is a thin, flat weft hair extension that sits close to the head, installs about three times faster than a traditional weft, and is now the most requested method across our four salons. This guide explains what a butterfly weft is, what makes the Signature Weft different, who it suits and what to expect at your appointment.

What is a butterfly weft?

A weft is a continuous seam of hair, rather than individual strands. A butterfly weft is the newest generation of weft: the seam is much thinner and more flexible than a machine-sewn or hand-tied weft, so it lies flat against the scalp instead of sitting on top of it. It is attached with small beads, without heat or glue, and can be moved up as your hair grows.

The result is a weft that gives the fullness people choose wefts for, without the bulk that older wefts were known for. It is comfortable to sleep on, discreet in a ponytail, and quicker to fit.

Why EH calls it the Signature Weft

We chose the name because it is the weft we would put in our own hair. Founder Emilly Hadrill wears three rows of it herself. It uses the same 100% double-drawn Remy human hair as every extension we fit, ethically sourced from paid donors, in a construction our stylists have tested in the salon before offering it to clients.

The benefits

  • Faster in the chair. Allow about 45 minutes for 50g, 75 minutes for 100g and 105 minutes for 150g. A traditional weft of the same weight takes roughly three times as long.
  • Flat and bulk-free. The thin seam sits close to the head, so there is no ridge under your hair and nothing to feel when you lie down.
  • Discreet. Rows are placed so the hair can be worn up, including a high ponytail.
  • Choose your own grams. One row (50g) for subtle volume, two rows (100g) for volume and length, three rows (150g) for a full result.
  • Gentle on natural hair. No heat, no glue, no chemicals. The beads open and close without damage, and the weight is spread along the row rather than on single points.
  • Long-lasting hair. With proper care the hair lasts nine to twelve months, and the same hair is reused at each maintenance visit.

What clients say

EH ambassador Emilee Hembrow had her Signature Weft fitted at our salon this year. Her words, on camera, as the rows went in:

“It feels amazing, honestly, how smooth it is. Definitely a huge difference. It’s so soft and thin up against my head. Love it.”

The comment we hear most often from clients switching from an older weft is about comfort: the Signature Weft is the first weft they forget they are wearing. The second is about time. A 100g refit in 75 minutes changes how often people are happy to come in.

One recent transformation combined 150g of Signature Weft with 75g of invisible tape, for length, volume and a blend through the front that reads as one head of hair. The consultation is where that combination gets decided.

Our guide to micro bead hair extensions covers the bead methods in detail, and the tape extensions page covers tape. Fine or fragile hair usually suits tape better than any weft, and the consultation confirms this.

What the consultation confirms

  1. Method. Whether the Signature Weft suits your hair density, or whether tape or a combination is the better fit.
  2. Weight. One, two or three rows, based on the result you want and what your hair can carry comfortably.
  3. Colour match. Your stylist matches the hair to your natural colour and blend, so the weft disappears into your own hair.

The consultation takes about 30 minutes. A $49 booking fee holds your appointment and is fully redeemable on your service.

Caring for a Signature Weft

  • Use salon-quality, sulfate-free, protein-free shampoo and conditioner, and keep conditioner away from the rows.
  • Dry the rows fully after washing.
  • Brush from the ends up with a loop brush, holding the roots.
  • Sleep in a loose plait or low ponytail.
  • Heat-style with a heat protectant, and keep tools away from the seam.
  • Return for maintenance on time so the rows never sit too far from the scalp.

You can exercise and swim as normal. Tie the hair in a loose plait and rinse afterwards.

Frequently asked questions

Is a butterfly weft the same as the Signature Weft?

The Signature Weft is EH’s butterfly weft. Butterfly weft is the general name for this thin, flat generation of weft. The Signature Weft is our version, made with 100% double-drawn Remy hair and fitted by our extension specialists.

How long does a Signature Weft take to install?

About 45 minutes for 50g, 75 minutes for 100g and 105 minutes for 150g, plus your style cut.

How long does the hair last?

Nine to twelve months with proper care. The hair is reused at each maintenance appointment.

Can I wear my hair up?

Yes. Rows are placed so a high ponytail hides the attachments.

Will it damage my hair?

Fitted and maintained by our specialists, the Signature Weft is designed to be gentle on your natural hair. No heat, glue or chemicals are used, and the weight is spread along each row.

How many grams do I need?

Most clients choose 100g or 150g. Fine to medium hair wanting subtle volume often suits 50g. Your stylist confirms this at the consultation.
